As I am doing a lot of automotive animation work, I needed better vehicle animation possibilities. There are few possible ways of animating cars in Unreal Engine, but none of them are comfortable for cinematic purpose. We are not taking in account manual key frame animation, we really do need something procedural and within unreal, not leaving the app or connecting to Maya live link.
Chaos Vehicle requires precision driver to create proper animation and a good take, what gets us to multiple rounds of approval with the client if something needs to be changed.
Control Rig and skeletal mesh doesn't support Nanite (yet), what makes it impossible to use CAD models for more detailed renders and close ups. Skeletal mesh takes hours to import if it has more than 6+mln polys.
So the idea of custom control rig BP came up and was realized for easier animation within UE and procedural animation of suspension.
